Taita Jose Francisco Piaguaje Yaiguaje (also known as Abuelo Pacheco) belongs to the Siona tribe of Buena Vista Bajo and inherited the wisdom and knowledge of his grandparents.
He is the son and heir to the knowledge of Grandfather Francisco Piaguaje Maniguaje, a renowned traditional medicine man and indigenous healer from the Amazon region of Putumayo, Colombia.
Taita José Francisco Piaguaje Yaiguaje is a traditional medicine man and indigenous authority with an outstanding career and training in studies such as ethnomedicine, ethnobotany, and ethno-aboriginal studies.
He has been working to create projects that help recover and preserve the ancestral knowledge of the Siona tribe.
In recent years, Taita José Francisco Piaguaje has travelled outside of the Amazon to fulfil the great mission entrusted to him: to continue practicing and recovering the traditions of his ancestors.
